*maybe* missed by 6 inches... I got lucky because she swerved at the last possible second. She was on her phone.... I know I’m preaching to the choir, but stay off your phones, people.
(And yes, I had the walk signal. I assume she just looked up from her phone at the intersection, saw the light was green, and took the turn without checking the crosswalk. It’s important to note that I had started walking and was halfway through the crosswalk before she had even gotten to the intersection.)

I was watching, but she wasn’t stopped at the light while I was waiting so I didn’t see her coming down the street before she made the turn. By the time I did see her, I was expecting her to slow down. Once she didn’t start slowing, I tried to start moving out of the way but it honestly wouldn’t have been enough anyway. I just got lucky she swerved.

I’m happy that disaster was averted. When I hurriedly typed that last remark, i was thinking of myself apologizing to a pedestrian that I’d failed to observe last Saturday in the Walmart parking lot. Fortunately, and clearly, he was accustomed to walking and was looking out for me...
